Snake Skin Trend

Snake Skin Trend

The Python trend has left behind the leopard as major fashion brands showcased Python as part of their new collections. What is attracting me to snake skin trend is its availability in different colors and textures and combinations. It can be worn in striking as well as subdued way. My mind is already ticking, thinking of ideas-How to wear and of course how to DIY the Python.

Since Melbourne is basking in the glory of spring I'm definitely going with these lovely colors, florals and flowy fabrics. In love with the appeal of black Alberta Ferretti number; perfect for a spring night.

P.S. My first Polyvore set, so don't expect perfection.

Body Harnesses in the make

Found these photos on the blog Garbage Dress by Zana Bayne. I thought these photos will illustrate more the concept discussed in my previous post.

Talented Zana Bayne in the process of making and styling dresses with corset belts and body harnesses backstage Prabal Gurung show SS12.

Talented Zana Bayne in her creative mode. She has an online shop as well, if you want to buy body harnesses.

To make your own you will require some scrap leather (make sure it is good quality thick leather), exacto or another sharp knife, a hole making tool and some buckles and studs. If you can't do it all yourself take it to a cobbler or bag repairer to get holes done or for connecting various strips. DIY or BUY this accessory is definitely a head turner.

DIY Inspiration

Have  my heart set on diy-ing this Prabal Gurung dress. Cool inspiration for modifying any white dress by adding leather body harness and some fabric sash or ribbon on the dress. Body harnesses have been in fashion for quiet a while now but wearing it in Prabal style is going to add oodles of style to any white dress. Plus who wants to wear the same plain dress time and time again. Tutorial for making body harnesses here and here. Apparently body harnesses can be made with different types of materials like chain, fabric, leather and what not. Let your imagination roll!!

Scarf Styling

How cool is the styling of these Prada outfits. Simply tie a scarf on a shirt, long tee or thigh length dress to add a twist and chirp to your looks. photos:

Why not DIY!!!

Being a firm believer of  sustainable practices I should have done this post earlier but 'better late than never' as they say.
Cut and spray paint a paisley doily and
attach a chain with jump rings.
  • Why not DIY when it helps you relax and takes away your mind from daily grind. Majority of us work as in do a job. Whatever we do and achieve we get paid for it. But sometimes if you think at the end of the day what did you do for yourself, the answer is blank. Doing your DIY projects gives you that sense of achievement and satisfaction which never can be attained from a regular job.
  • Why to spend big bucks buying straight from a showroom or a website when you can create the same thing with your own talented hands. Well, some will say it is easy to buy and who has time and resources. But, if you consider the fact how we are ripped sometimes for simple diyable things and how little time and organisation it requires to DIY, the concept of DIY starts making sense.
  • Why not DIY when you have hidden treasures in your cupboard/wardrobe that can be recycled and upcycled to create something totally different. It gives your wardrobe a fresh lease of life by getting rid of old and worn and by adding something fresh and trendy.
Raid your wardrobe for an Tee/Dress
and add fringe to keep up with fringe trend photo
  • Why to waste money on buying when trends change so quick. We all like to own pieces that are in fashion and believe me it is hard to do massive purchases every season to keep up with trend. So, why not modify things you already have or collect supplies and make your own and look trendy.
  • Why not to think about our ecological footprint when we all know how much environmental degradation we have already caused.
  • Why not use loads of  inspiration floating all around us and get the satisfaction of creating our own.
  • So, why not DIY!!! I have to be a fool to miss any opportunity of DIY.
Take a sharpie pen and draw leopard print on old shoes or use this stencil and spray paint to keep up with snake skin trend.
